TechInsights forecasts global smartphone wholesale revenue will grow +4% YoY in 2023, mainly thanks to the growth of ASP. However, we expect smartphone wholesale price would see a modest decline in 2024 / 2025, before resuming the growth pattern in 2026 mainly driven by the expected foldable iPhones models. Then the ASP would head for the downturn track again from 2027 onwards, before the 6G cycle coming. Global smartphone wholesale revenue will maintain the upwards track from 2024 through 2028, with the highest growth rate to take place in 2026. Higher-priced 5G iPhone super cycle and the volatile component costs combined lifted the global smartphone wholesale ASP over the recent two years. These factors would gradually fade away from 2024 onwards and lead to the volatility of ASP curve over the next few years. Premium tier segment will generate 73% to 74% value share during the forecast window, and it has surpassed mid-tier being the largest band by volume in 2022, as what we expected. The trend would continue through 2028. This report forecasts global smartphone sales volume, revenues and wholesale ASPs by six major regions and five price-tiers from 2008 to 2028. Extensive analysis of the premium, high, mid, entry and ultra-low price-bands is included. The report is a valuable tool for device vendors, operators, component manufacturers, software developers, financial analysts, car makers, and other stakeholders who want to measure the smartphone market by value and benchmark their pricing strategies.
