Global Cellular Market: Strong 5G Outlook but Total Revenue and Profits Flat
Add to Cart
Report Summary:
4G LTE networks will host over 6 billion subscriptions by the end of 2024, 69% of all wireless subscriptions. Prior to and even alongside initial launches of 5G services, there is considerable time for 4G LTE platforms to evolve though LTE-Advanced and LTE-Advanced Pro technologies. LTE continues to have a bright future with much of Africa and Middles East still clinging to older generations. As operators prepare for 5G, their launch strategies must take into account operating in an increasingly challenging business environment. 5G propositions built purely on the value of faster and more responsive networks will not provide any meaningful uplift to service revenues for mobile operators, with the pressure to sell more data to fill the bigger pipe capping monthly spend profiles. 5G subscribers will account for 26% of wireless service revenue in 2024, though strong 5G growth will fail to halt a 0.4% per annum decline globally in total service revenue.
