Lenovo-Motorola shipments stayed flat, recording only minor (1%) growth YoY in Q2 2017. This is good news, as it has finally managed to stabilize the handset business after almost two years of steady decline. Shipment volume growth is coming from the Motorola sub-brand, which grew at an impressive 115% annually, offsetting the -65% YoY decline in Lenovo’s branded devices. Lenovo’s investment in the Motorola brand may finally be showing signs of paying off, but many challenges remain and one product cycle miss could still be disastrous. Latam positive as NAM surprises.
