China’s Dual Credit Policy - Winners and Losers in 2021

Report Summary:

China reported a better result for 2021 than last year – a surplus of 10.3 million CAFC credits and 6 million NEV credit. There was a lot of variation across the 2021 credit results for individual OEMs, with 54 out of 129 OEMs reaching both credit targets. The winners in 2021 were those OEMs focusing on NEVs, such as BYD and Tesla. On average, Chinese OEMs delivered a much more satisfactory result than their international competitors, such as VW, GM, Nissan, Honda, and Toyota.
