Achieving a compelling in-cabin user experience is based on applying a mix or user interfaces within the vehicle. It is a fine balance between safe physical controls on one end and flexible touch screens on the other. This report offers an approach for tackling this balancing act by: (i) proposing an interface continuum, (ii) understanding user goals and tasks performed in the cabin, and (iii) mapping these tasks to the interface continuum based on user requirements.
