Report Summary:

This report summarizes technological advances affecting the automotive user experience featured at the 2020 edition of CES.

Many automakers and suppliers focused their 2020 CES stories on next-model-turn innovations, such as the use of cameras and other sensors for safety, personalization, authentication, and shopping-related use cases.  Voice assistants remained prolific, as well as AV concepts, and a few ideas for non-traditional HMI.

But from an end-user-focused perspective, the 2020 CES stands out not for what was announced, but for what was missing.  Several of the most-heralded automotive trends at CES ignore current consumer sentiment, not to mention the UX bugs that have yet to be resolved in on-market systems.
