Research Director: Automotive UX/HMI

Strategy Analytics is a global research and consulting firm that combines business planning experience, advanced analytical tools and end-user research to deliver insights to our technology client businesses. We help clients evaluate markets, companies & technologies with consulting solutions and annual subscriptions as well as reports.

The UX Innovation Practice within Strategy Analytics conducts primary research on consumer experiences with connected devices, the connected car, and the connected home. Our automotive research explores the user experience, including consumer needs, interests, willingness to pay, usage, and satisfaction for connectivity, autonomy, and mobility.  We analyze human-machine interface (HMI) trends and provide recommendations to clients to optimize system design.

The successful candidate will lead our automotive research. Primary functions for this position are:

  • Collaborate with the Director for Syndicated Research and our clients to develop a research strategy.
  • Initiate and execute all aspects of user experience research studies. Methodologies include but are not limited to consumer surveys, focus groups, usability testing, heuristic evaluations, and contextual interviews.
  • Analyze both quantitative and qualitative data using a variety of techniques.
  • Author reports to be published to our syndicated client base providing results, analysis and actionable recommendations.
  • Interface with clients to answer client inquiries, provide briefings, and promoting our research.
  • Attend and present at automotive events and conferences.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have at least 10 years of experience in automotive human factors and/or user research.
  • Have a master’s degree in User Experience, Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, Experimental Psychology, or related discipline.
  • Have extensive experience in conducting user research employing multiple methodologies.
  • Have strong data analysis skills and experience with both quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Be able to utilize data to make actionable recommendations to clients regarding HMI and overall UX design.
  • Possess superior verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Be proficient with Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
  • Be a highly motivated independent researcher able to handle multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
