Eric Smith is Director of the Tablet & Touchscreen Strategies (TTS) service within Strategy Analytics. With his extensive knowledge in Tablets and 2-in-1 computing devices, he provides market sizing, forecasting, connectivity trends, insights, and recommendations to global industry players. As Lead Analyst for the Strategy Analytics' ConsumerMetrix service, Eric is also responsible for reporting on consumer survey work to explore user behaviors in consuming and purchasing media content, using and purchasing devices, and brand perceptions. He has been widely quoted in media outlets such as The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, NPR, and The New York Times.

 

Eric was previously an analyst in Strategy Analytics Connected Home Devices (CHD) service primarily covering Game Consoles and PCs for 2 years before joining the Tablets service. He also spent 8 years as an Economic and Political Advisor at the Consulate General Japan in Detroit, delivering qualitative analysis of economic and political trends for Japanese diplomats.

 

Eric holds a BA in International Relations with a concentration in Japanese from James Madison College at Michigan State University.
