LG, the world's 7th biggest smartphone vendor by volume in Q2 2016, has unveiled its new V-line flagship smartphone,
V20, today in the US and South Korea. The V20 device is very much
audio/music and camera/video-focused device, just like LG's predecessors, such as G4, G5 and V10.
To some extent, LG succeeded to enhance its brand awareness as the premium camera quality provider through the highly-advanced hardware and software technologies while
it remains to be seen whether LG would turn things around with their differentiated audio technology (Hi-Fi Quad DAC) and richer music-listening experience (Bundle earphone co-developed and tuned with B&O) that this vendor has tried on its premium offerings such as V10 and G5.
The thinner dimension and lighter weight than its predecessor, V10, last year would look more appealing, and we predict that
the success factors might boil down to two things. The first would be
how LG could efficiently market and promote their audio/music-focused features among mass market, and
the second would be how
relatively lower battery capacity of 3,200mAh would fully meet and sustain the users' smartphone usage pattern enjoying video contents on 5.7 inch 2K display and listening to 32-bit Hi-Fi music contents.
This flagship device is available in South Korea at the end of September 2016, followed by other major countries in October, and the price information will be available in the next few days.
