Huawei Will Top Asia Pacific Smartphone Market in 2017

by Linda Sui | Sep 02, 2016

According to the latest forecast report from our Wireless Smartphone Strategies (WSS) services: Global Smartphone Shipments Forecast by Vendor by Region by Quarter : 2015 to 2017, Huawei will surpass Samsung and become the largest smartphone vendor by volume in Asia Pacific in 2017, with 11% market share.

Asia Pacific maintains as the largest region for Huawei, contributing to 65% smartphone volume share during the first half of 2016. We believe Asia will continue to making up a lion share in Huawei's global picture. However, the Chinese vendor is ramping up volumes quickly in West Europe and Africa Middle East region over the past few years.

Huawei is under the process of establishing itself as a global high-end smartphone player, and thus lessen its reliance on the fiercely competitive Chinese market. Based on the growing enhanced brand awareness, effective channel strategy, diversified products portfolio and the effective marketing initiatives, Huawei is on the right track to grab more market share in overseas markets outside of China.

We forecast Samsung and Apple will maintain the top 2 chart in global smartphone market by 2017, followed by Huawei, OPPO, vivo, Xiaomi and others.
