Realme Witnessed Third Consecutive Annual Decline In Q4 2022

by Abhilash Kumar | Feb 16, 2023

Realme declined annually for the third consecutive quarter in Q4 2022 where it declined -49% YoY. Previous inventory overload, unfavourable market conditions and economic headwinds were prime reasons for the reduced shipment this quarter.

All regions witnessed double digit decline. Realme’s shipment declined in Asia Pacific this quarter because of markets like India, China and South East Asia which are the sweet spot for Realme for quite some time now.

Estimated global smartphone wholesale revenue declined -53% YoY in Q4 2022. The annual decline in wholesale revenue was in line with the shipment volume decline trend and as a matter of fact was a little more driven by ASP decline.

Realme slowed down the new product launch cycle in Q4 2022. It only launched 4 new models in Q4 2022 pertaining to Realme 10 series, including 10s (China only), 10 (5G in China, 4G in India, Russia and other overseas markets), 10 Pro and 10 Pro+. The latter two are available in both China and overseas markets (mainly in India and Russia etc.).  Realme 10 Pro+ was the first Realme device with a curved display and was marketed a lot on social media platform for that matter.

With a total score of 3.0 (out of 5) the SA Vendor Lens evaluates Realme as vendor which is quickly rising and changing the game but at the same time the vendor has to hustle and challenge itself to maintain the growth momentum as its small base turns big in different regions.
