INFOGRAPHIC: US Wireless Carrier Performance, Q2 2016

by Philip Kendall | Aug 16, 2016

Wireless service revenue fell 2.3% in the US in Q2 2016, though is still up 3.7% when factoring back in monthly billing revenue from equipment installment plans and device lease agreements. As the share of no-subsidy devices continues to increase in the customer base as a result of continued growth in the use of these device purchase options and also growth in BYOD connections, EBITDA grew 10% in Q2, increasingly freed from the shackles of heavy subsidy spend.

T-Mobile continues to lead US wireless growth,  though postpaid phone net adds continue to slow. Sprint’s historically low postpaid phone churn (1.39%) is finally lifting subscriber totals, to maintain those green shoots of recover, however this is being bought with lower ARPUs; its revenue growth the slowest of the top 4 carriers.

The Infographic below provides a useful overview of market growth and carrier performance on key metrics that underpin success (click on the image to enlarge).
