The prevalence of bargain shopping apps has increased with the proliferation of smartphone usage. These apps boast incredible bargains on a wide selection of consumer items, ranging from fashion to electronics to home goods. Banggood, DealeXtreme, LightInTheBox, YoShop, and Zulily are just a few of the apps you’ll find in the app store. However, for this blog post, we’ll compare use of three of the most popular bargain apps in the AppOptix panel: AliExpress, Wish, and Hollar.
As the data shows, Wish is dominating the competition when it comes to incidence rate (or app penetration), maintaining a presence on more than a tenth of the AppOptix panel members in 2017 and looking to grow over 2018. AliExpress maintains a presence on approximately 5% of the panel, while Hollar struggles to break the 2% mark.

Despite Wish’s lead in app penetration, AliExpress may be overtaking Wish in daily engagement. Whether this trend continues into 2018 – Q2 remains to be seen. Hollar still trails behind the others, but the gap in daily engagement isn’t as wide as that of incidence rate.

Finally, a look at the average monthly minutes of use sees AliExpress overtaking Wish in 2018 – Q1, just as it did for daily engagement. Hollar remains the least used of the three, but its average may be approaching levels similar to those of the other two shopping apps.
