Global smartphone wholesale (trade) revenues are expected to decrease -9% YoY in 2020, as a result of the global coronavirus pandemic. We expect revenues to rebound +13% in 2021 and continue to rise in the following years.
Global smartphone wholesale ASPs is also expected to decline -3% YoY in 2020, while recovering +2% in 2021. Economic hardship following Covid-related lockdowns globally, pushed consumers toward lower-priced devices. This was the first annual decline of global ASP for the last four years. We expect smartphone ASP will come back from 2020 onwards.
Countries with the highest ASP in 2021 like Japan, South Korea and Australia will have more than twice bigger ASP than the global average, while on the other end of the spectrum, Iran’s ASP will be more than twice smaller than the global average.
