According to the recently published report under
Handset Country Share Tracker (HCST) service,
'Global LTE Handset Vendor Shipments by Country Q1 2015',
China remained the biggest LTE handset market for three quarters in a row,
with a record-high LTE handset shipments in Q1 2015.
LTE handset market in China in Q1 2015 grew by
a huge +748% YoY over one year ago in terms of shipments, fueled by strong LTE product promotions, subsidies and product shake-up moves from local vendors such as
Xiaomi, Huawei, Lenovo+Motorola, OPPO and Vivo.
With the introduction of
TD-LTE across China at the end of 2013, the country immediately became the second largest LTE market in Q1 2014, and it took only 3 quarters for China to be the biggest LTE market. We expect steady sequential growth in LTE handset sales in China through 2015 as
the newly-licensed FDD-LTE will bring more LTE subscribers to China Unicom and China Telecom down the road.
