According to Strategy Analytics'
WDE (Wearables) service,
fitness band sales growth will continue to slow in 2017 and 2018, and will begin to decline from 2019 as smartwatches become more popular and start to more aggressively market towards fitness-focused consumers (such as the Apple Watch Series 2 Nike+).
The global fitness band market today (and tomorrow) continues to
fork into two separate tracks. Among the
higher-tiers, brands like Fitbit, Samsung and Misfit are trying to "add value" to their products by including higher-end features, enabling technologies and preloaded apps. Among the
lower-tiers, companies like Xiaomi are "racing to the bottom on pricing".
