A pair of worthy successors were unveiled this week by Fitbit to replace two aging models. The
Charge2 and
Flex2 replace the Charge and Flex, and are indicative of Fitbit’s ability to outpace other top-tier rivals such as Apple and Xiaomi that have been slower to launch new designs for the wrist.
These new models are out well ahead of the key Q4 shopping quarter, and with advanced metrics like VO2 Max and waterproof designs, position the market leader well to defend its #1 share in fitness bands against looming downmarket threats from Xiaomi with the MiBand2.
In a rapidly evolving market, these devices fast-follow the successful launch of the Alta and Blaze in Q1, showing that Fitfit is executing well and not taking much of a breather to bask in its success.
