Smartphone consumers likely to see price increases as Vodafone, Orange, 3 and O2 scramble to replace Huawei in their supply chain

There is never a dull moment in the smartphone retail business. How will retail pricing be affected when network service operators are forced to range different handsets to replace their extensive Huawei and Honor portfolios? Analysis from the PriceTRAX team at Strategy Analytics shows that Vodafone, Orange, 3 and O2 have the largest proportion of Huawei smartphones in their existing portfolios.

At the high-end Apple and Samsung will undoubtedly benefit most.

In the mass market Samsung and other Chinese vendors (Xiaomi, OPPO and Vivo) will likely benefit from Huawei’s wows.

Given how aggressive Huawei has been on pricing and the likely shortages of other brands in the global supply chain it seems inevitable that retail prices will increase.

Our PriceTRAX retail pricing tracker can be used as the basis to predict the likely changes.
