Honor launched X30's successor
X40 in China this evening.
X40 was addressed as a cost-effective phone with specs beyond its entry- to mid-tier segment competitors. It has a solid 120Hz curved OLED panel with 1 billion colours, Qualcomm Snapdragon 5G chipset, 5100mAh battery with 40W quick charge and body weight controlled at 172g. Other highlights include always-on display, under-screen fingerprint authenticator, low-noise microphone, high SNR antenna, and features to remind family members of the elderly's safety.
Honor claimed that the users of its X series phones surpassed
100 million and
X30 was
the top seller in Android campaign in all segments.
In our research, Honor X30 5G is indeed one of the most popular phones in China since Q4 2021 when it was launched, if not the best, depending on how you calculate the numbers.
Our research also indicated that the X series had overtaken Honor's higher-tier Number series and become the biggest contributor in shipping volume in the last quarter. We expect Honor will resume its resilience this year and X40 could be the key player in this journey. On the other hand, X40 will face fierce competition in this price segment from Redmi Note 11 series, OPPO K9/K10, etc.
RAM is available for 6, 8 and 12GB. Storage has 128 and 256 GB options. Price-wise, cheapest model (6+128) is 1,499 CNY (214 USD) and the most expensive combination (12+256) goes up to 2,299 CNY (329 USD).
