Honor today reaffirmed its commitment to international markets. At IFA 2022, the company announced a new Dual Flagship Strategy to bring the next foldable and all-round flagship smartphones to overseas markets. In line with this strategy, Honor firstly introduced its latest high-end Number series Honor 70 to Europe and other overseas markets.
Designed for vlogging enthusiasts, the stylish device debuts with Solo Cut mode, which lets users easily produce vlogs that spotlight a specific person in a group through built-in Person Re-identification Technology. With Dual Video Streaming, Honor 70 can record two videos simultaneously, with one featuring a single subject and the other capturing the full group. Video content generation is gaining popularity being one of the key smartphone user cases recent years, following camera and still image. We believe the dual video mode would help Honor to attract young segment and female users.
The new smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G Plus 5G and supports GPU Turbo X and OS Turbo X.
Honor 70 is available in a range of fashionable color options including Midnight Black, Crystal Silver, and Emerald Green. In the UK an 8/128GB unit is priced at £480. In mainland Europe, the 8/128GB model will sell for €550, the 8/256GB one for €600.
Despite Honor made 70’s dual cameras more practical to use, its hardware upgrade over their older generations Honor 50 (and Honor 60 in China) is limited, which would make Honor 70 difficult to replicate the market performance of Honor 50, especially when Honor 50 has been largely discounted. Honor 70’s performance during 6.18, one of biggest online shopping festival in China, has proved our concerns.
The brand also previewed MagicOS 7.0, an upcoming all-scenario smart collaboration OS based on Android as well as PC and IoT operating systems, embracing open standards to facilitate seamless collaboration among smartphones, tablets, PC and other IoT products. It would help the company to fulfill its multiple-screen strategy in both China and overseas market.
We forecast Honor will maintain the upwards track in 2022. The availability of Honor 70 in overseas markets will help the company's resilient journey.
