Strategy Analytics predicts that both global legitimate handset and smartphone sales volume will grow +9% YoY annually in 2021, from the dip in 2020. The growth pattern will maintain, and we expect handset and smartphone sales volume will rebound to +5% YoY and +8% YoY respectively in 2022. This is driven by 5G smartphones and new hardware innovations like foldables, wireless charging in the mid segment, refresh rate, in-display camera, etc.
In terms of volume share, Asia Pacific will remain by far the world's largest region. Africa and Middle East will post highest growth rate among all regions. This impressive growth will be due to low smartphone penetration rate in the region (hence higher growth potential) and people upgrading from feature phone to smartphone. The "Big Five" countries globally will be China, India, the United States, Brazil, and Indonesia by 2026. Emerging markets are outgrowing developed markets.
This report talks about handset and smartphone sales forecast till 2026 by 88 countries and is a must read for key stakeholders to understand the country wise dynamics and sales pattern.
