Strategy Analytics predicts that global smartphone sales will rebound 5% YoY in 2021 driven by the eased economy, 5G migration, and availability of low-cost smartphones. Among the different operating systems (OS) that power these devices, Android (including Fuchsia OS or any other OS launched by Google) will maintain the lead for the next 5 years from now with 83~84% market share. This is followed by Apple’s iOS with 16~17% market share. Huawei’s Harmony OS for smartphones has recently been launched in June but the future looks uncertain under the US ban.
