Apple’s Q4 2019 Smartphone Results Boosted by Best Growth in Four Years

by Boris Metodiev | Jan 30, 2020

Apple’s total global smartphone shipments increased 7% annually in Q4 2019, this was Apple’s highest YoY growth for more than four years.

The company performed much better than the overall smartphone market, which remained flat YoY in Q4 2019. Apple climbed up to the top of the global vendor ranking, overtaking Samsung and Huawei along the way.

The new devices from the iPhone 11 lineup included improvements that resonated better with consumers, like longer battery life and night mode camera.

Launching more “reasonably” priced models has paid dividends for Apple, helping to get more traction in emerging markets, and recovering some lost positions in the developed markets.

Issues from the outbreak of the coronavirus and the trade war between US and China can affect Apple’s supply chain and have a negative impact on Q1 2020 and even the rest of the year.
