Global Smartphone Revenue Grew +7% YoY in Q2 2018

Global smartphone industry saw contracted volume recent quarters, but smartphone wholesale revenue and ASP is still under upwards track. According to the latest report from our Wireless Smartphone Strategies (WSS) service, global smartphone wholesale revenue and ASP grew +7% and +10% YoY respectively during Q2 2018. Smartphone industry is under super cycle of revenue / ASP growth.

Apple maintained top position as the largest vendor by revenue, followed by Samsung, Huawei and OPPOHuawei solidified the No. 3 position by revenue and profitability this quarter. Apple, Huawei, OPPO, vivo and Xiaomi all posted improved revenue and ASP this quarter. In contrast, Samsung posted annual decline by revenue and ASP in Q2 2018.

Premium smartphones with a wholesale price of US$300 and above remained the cash-cow for the whole industry, contributing to 24% volume share and 59% value share this quarter.
