Online Channel Make Up 23% of Global Smartphone Sales in 2018

According to the latest report from our Wireless Smartphone Strategies (WSS) service: Smartphone Sales by Distribution Channel Forecast for 30 Countries: Online (Pure E-Retailers) vs. Offline, the distribution of smartphones through online channels will grow an above-average +7% worldwide in 2019. Online channel will contribute to 23% of global smartphone sales volume this year, 25% by 2020, 27% by 2023.

India and China are especially active and have experienced a Golden Age for online smartphone distribution. China will maintain the largest online smartphone distribution volumes by 2023, and India will maintain the highest smartphone online ratio during the same timeframe.

Meanwhile, pure e-retailers have already outweighed other online players being the dominating role in global online smartphone channel from 2015. USA, Indonesia and Nigeria etc. will experience strong pure e-retailer growing in the next few years. Amazon, JD (China),  and Flipkart (India) will maintain the major players in this segment.
