OPPO announced Find X yesterday in Paris, France. It is vendor’s latest flagship model with a record high price tag.
The new model comes with an impressive 94% screen-to-body ratio, achieved by an innovative mechanical design. The solution is a bit similar to what vivo did for its front camera in its NEX model, but OPPO go to the next step by elevating the whole camera module from the inside. The new design helps Find X to stand out in the premium segment.
Find X has first-tier hardware specifications as well as a record high price tag. The new model is powered by Qualcomm 845 chipset, and is equipped with a 6.4 inch flexible AMOLED display, 25MP front camera, 16MP+24MP rear camera, 8GB RAM, 256GB ROM, and 3730mAh battery. The retail price is set to be EUR 999 (~USD 1157), a record high level not only for OPPO but also for most Chinese smartphone vendors in overseas markets. Similar as Huawei’s cooperation with Porsche Design, OPPO introduced a Lamborghini edition of Find X. The premium edition has a bigger ROM (516GB), faster charging capability (35 minutes to full charge its 3400mAh battery), and engraved Lamborghini logo. It costs EUR1699 (~USD1967) in retail.
The launch of Find X will help OPPO to lift up its brand image in terms of innovation and uniqueness. OPPO is certainly eying the premium category dominated by Apple and Samsung in global smartphone market. Meanwhile, OPPO announced to expand its channel in France, Italy, Spain, and Netherlands. It indicates OPPO’s ambition to challenge Huawei’s position in more mature markets, like Western Europe.
