HMD Enjoyed Robust Growth in Volume and ASP in Q1 2018, but Can It Sell Nokia in the US?

HMD is a rising star in the global handset market. Founded in May 2016, HMD is now the world second largest feature phone supplier and a global top 10 smartphone vendor.

The key success ingredients of HMD are the expanding product portfolio, the licensed Nokia brand, and the global sales channels inherited from the old Nokia mobile division. China remains a challenge, while the US represents significant if a challenging new opportunity.

We are optimistic about HMD’s performance in 2018. We expect its recent success in fundraising will support growth if smart marketing, go to market and customer engagement decisions are made beyond its initial priority markets.
