Is Android Go a Goer or a Goner?

According to our WSS (Smartphones) service, Google will introduce its new Android Go platform for low-end smartphones in 2018. It will be optimized for entry-level apps, such as YouTube Go or Facebook Lite. Why is Google doing this? How many Android Go smartphones will be sold worldwide next year?
