Gionee released S10, its latest flagship model, today in Shanghai China. The model stands out from the competition as the world’s first four camera enabled smartphone.
S10’s four-camera setup includes a dual camera module in the front (20MP + 8MP) and another in the back (16MP+8MP). This setup enables consumers to take bokeh shots from both sides of the model. Specification-wise, S10 comes with MTK P25 chipset, a 5.5-inch LTPS display, 6GB RAM, 64GB ROM, and 3450mAh battery. S10 has two lighter versions: S10B and S10C with downgraded hardware specifications, including camera setups. The retail price of S10, S10B, and S10C is RMB 2599 (USD380), RMB 2199 (USD320), and RMB 1599 (USD 230) respectively.
Gionee has gained momentum in smartphone market over recent quarters. It enjoys a comprehensive product portfolio covering multiple price tiers. The launch of S10 indicates Gionee’s ambition and shows off its capability on product innovation and differentiation. Taking into the consideration of its strong offline channels in China as well as its improved performance in overseas market, we expect the vendor is well-positioned to further gain market share in global smartphone market this year.
