Indian Online Smartphone Sales Grew 31% in 2016

Online Channels accounted for nearly a third of the smartphone sales in India in 2016. Per our latest insight report available here from the Wireless Smartphone Strategy (WSS) Service, the growth in this channel were to the tune of 31% YoY.

Lenovo – Motorola, Samsung and Xiaomi were the top three vendors in that order in the online channel. Flipkart, Amazon and Snapdeal were the top three ecommerce platforms by smartphone sales in 2016. The year was marked by aggressive campaigns and high marketing spends by Amazon and Flipkart in particular, to bring the consumers on board.
