Vivo posted a strong quarter. Its global smartphone shipments increased +87% YoY and its wholesale revenue grew 170% YoY. Robust demand on vivo’s well-designed premium smartphones, X7 series and V3 series, mainly drove up volume and value growth this quarter. Its recent marketing campaign shows vivo is eyeing male consumers and would like to lift up its brand awareness and enhance its perception in this segment. Huawei and Xiaomi might get worried.
