Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra 5G Was the Best-Selling Android Smartphone in the USA in Q2’22

by Juha Winter | Aug 11, 2022

Samsung’s Galaxy S22 Ultra 5G was the best-selling non-Apple smartphone in the United States in the second quarter of 2022, the South Korean vendor having 5 out of the top-10 best-selling smartphone models overall, even if not at very top. Rival Apple had a very solid quarter globally as well as in its home market, beating many analyst expectations. Apple’s iPhone 13 series, to be superseded by new models in the next quarter, remained strong and took the top-3 spots, followed by the new iPhone SE 5G at no.4, according to recent research from Strategy Analytics’ Smartphone Model Tracker (SMT). The top-10 models are shown in the exhibit below.

TCL-Alcatel also made it to the top-20, with the TCL 30 Z sitting just outside of the top-10. TCL-Alcatel had a strong quarter in the US in general, increasing its market share by nearly 2pp year on year and even more compared to the previous quarter.
