Mexican electronics manufacturer,
Ghia, has this week launched its clumsily named
GK3G smart featurephone with
KaiOS in the Central American country.
It will be available in a surprisingly large 25k
retailers, distributors, and websites nationwide.
We note there has been a
flurry of new KaiOS models in
Mexico in the past year, from Ghia, Lanix, and also
Alcatel.
KaiOS is
struggling in Asia and Africa, and the low-cost platform is trying to ramp up its activities across Latin America, by targeting 2G and 3G
upgraders who want to spend less than US$50.
