Indonesia is one of the
"big 5" smartphone markets in Asia. It is bigger than Japan and thrice the size of Australia.
Indonesia today is dominated by
Chinese Android brands. Their strategy of lower costs, lower profit margins and lightning-fast retail has proven wildly successful in recent years.
By MODEL, Xiaomi's
Redmi Note 9 is the top-seller in Q3 2020, with a healthy 5% marketshare. It is relatively affordable and widely promoted online thru social media.
Vivo Y11 is second. Xiaomi Redmi 9, at an even lower price than Note 9, is third.
Of the
top-10 models in Indonesia,
nine are made by Chinese brands.
Samsung is the only non-Chinese brand in the list.
