As part of Strategy Analytics'
Smartphone Model Tracker (SMT) service, we previously published the
top-200 bestselling smartphone models in India for the second quarter of 2016. That extensive report captures the aggregated smartphone shipments in all channel types: high-street retail,
online retail, and operator.
The online channel, however, is becoming increasingly important in India, with major e-retailers such as
Flipkart and
Amazon having recurring promotional events in partnership with smartphone vendors like
Samsung. Due to such online campaigns and events, the sales of many models through the online channel have skyrocketed, reaching nearly double the average percentage of
online shipments which currently stand at around
26 to 28 percent in India, with some quarterly variation. Furthermore, over the next few years, the share of online shipments in India is expected to trend upwards.
Our
most recent SMT report on India by model provides a deep dive into the online sales channel in India in Q2 2016, identifying
the top-50 bestselling smartphones sold through pure online retailers only.
We invite clients of our SMT service to have a look at the report
