Samsung Galaxy J Series, Xiaomi, and Micromax at the Top of the Chart for Bestselling Smartphones in India for Q2 2016

India is the world's third largest smartphone market, just behind China and the United States. It is one of the fastest-growing countries on the planet, with a rising middle class and vibrant competition among device suppliers. Our extensive report, available to clients of our Smartphone Model Tracker (SMT) service, shows the top-200 best-selling smartphone models in India in the second quarter of 2016. It provides an added level of granularity and depth, building on our global view of the bestselling smartphone families and models.

The Samsung Galaxy J2, the Galaxy J7, and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 were the "top-3" most popular smartphones in India in Q2 2016. Looking at the top-10 list, however, one finds four models from Samsung, three from the domestic vendor Micromax, and two from Lenovo-Motorola. The market remains very fragmented with lots of different brands and models competing for market share.
