India smartphone market declined by -31% annually in Q4 2022. It was one of the steepest decline the market has witnessed in the past 10 quarters. Vivo for the first time ever topped the smartphone segment in the county. It was followed by Xiaomi, Samsung in the second and third position respectively. The churn at the top rankings in the market comes in each of the vendor’s are up with different types of challenges.
India Smartphone Market also declined by -9% annually for the whole of 2022. Xiaomi, Samsung and Vivo were the top three vendor for the year and in that order.
While the global smartphone market is expected to decline in 2023, India smartphone market is estimated to clock double digit growth spurred by the roll out of 5G networks in the country.
