Q4’21: Regional Smartphone Revenues, ASP’s Hit Record Highs

Global Wholesale Smartphone Revenues scaled up to its highest ever to US$ 127.7 Billion in Q4 2021. Apple, Samsung and Xiaomi were the top three vendors in the quarter with Apple alone taking over half the revenue share globally. At US$ 347, Global Wholesale Average Selling Price (ASP’s)  too peaked to its highest ever in over twenty quarters.

Some of the Highlight from our regional smartphone value share analysis for Q4 2021 includes:

  • Five of the six regions held the highest ever wholesale revenues in Q4 2021.
  • Apple topped all the six regions on revenues in the quarter. It had absolute domination in regions such as North America and Western Europe. The vendor accounted for 3/4th of the revenues in North America.
  • With the pull out of LG and Huawei, North America is nearly a duopoly market on revenue terms.
  • Apple’s dominance in ASP’s too continued as it led in all six regions on that metric
  • Asia Pacific accounted for half the global smartphone volumes in the quarter
