TRANSSION Brands Hold Sway in Kenya in Q4 2021

TRANSSION brands in (Tecno, Infinix and Itel) together accounted for over 62% of the smartphone market share, in Kenya, in Q4 2021. It is the highest ever volume share from the umbrella brand in the last eight quarters.

Tecno, Itel and Infinix in that order, held the top three rankings in this market in the last quarter of 2021. Of the three Tecno and Itel in particular have witnessed strong double-digit growth annually. Chinese vendors have built great momentum and in Q4 2021 they collectively accounted for over 8 in 10 devices shipped to the country. Realme and Xiaomi have been notable in terms of growth in the Kenyan market. While they have smaller shares both the vendors annually grew in triple digits.

As the Kenyan market primes for the commercialization of 5G in 2022, Chinese vendor are now on a very strong footing to engage the consumers.
