by Rajeev Nair | May 01, 2021

OPPO continued to grow its Latin American business by entering into the Chilean and Colombian markets. It already has been building up a strong presence in the Mexican market in 2020. Our country wise research  on the Latin American smartphone market is available here from the Smartphone Country Share Tracker (SCST) Service.

Both the Chilean and Colombian smartphone market has strong presence of Samsung and Lenovo-Motorola. Together the two took up over 50% of the market share in both these markets and with Samsung in the leadership position, since 2019. Chinese vendors have been steadily building up presence in multiple markets of Latin America, over the last few years. Xiaomi being the most visible among the new age vendors. The pull out from Huawei, offers a golden opportunity for many of these new age Chinese vendors to grow in these markets.

OPPO has been steadily growing its stature in the global smartphone market and as is evident from our recent research available here. Its Global 5G smartphone volumes skyrocketed by 1165% in Q1’ 2021 to wrest the second position from a strong competition in the segment.
