by Rajeev Nair | Jan 13, 2021

LG provided a sneak-peak into its Rollable smartphone concept at the CES 2021. It falls under its “Explorer Project” just like the LG Wing. Our detailed analysis on the vendor and the likely future product portfolio that could bring it back to the reckoning, is available here.

The hybrid smartphone from LG is to be launched later in the year and is based on flexible organic light-emitting diode technology. The vendor has partnered with BOE Technology Group for the same.

The “Explorer Project” from LG has innovation as its cornerstone and aims to launch smartphones that are distinctive and provide the consumers with “Unexplored Usability Experience”. Innovation has been one of the central and continuous focus areas for LG and is a core component for its turn around in the smartphone business.

Strategy Analytics expects the Rollable phone segment to jump start by the year 2022 and is set to witness sharp growth to 2025. Details projections available here.
