Xiaomi India Launches Redmi Go

by Rajeev Nair | Mar 21, 2019

Xiaomi launched its first Android Go based smartphone (Redmi Go), in India. The entry level device would be available at a wholesale price of US$ 60, from March 22. Xiaomi has been the leading smartphone vendor in India, per our latest report available here from the Handset Country Share Tracker (HCST) Service.

Redmi Go boots the Android 8.1 Oreo Go edition and runs on a Snapdragon 425 chip, 8/5 MP cameras and a 5 inch display with a screen resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels. It’s the best of the displays at this price point. The device to be made available on Flipkart, Mi.com and Mi Home Stores.

Xiaomi does face a strong completion not just from traditional rivals like Samsung in India but also from new emergent vendors such as Realme. The vendor would be banking on a strong uptake for this device to maintain its leadership position, in India, in 2019.
