Q4’18: Online Channel Share Grew in India

by Rajeev Nair | Feb 12, 2019

Online channel segment dominated in the Indian smartphone market in Q4 2018. Per our latest report, available here, from the Handset Country Share Tracker (HCST) Service, the growth in this segment was aided by heavy discount sales. The October month coincided with Diwali, which is a major shopping period in India.

Growth of new vendors like Realme who were primarily online also aided the spike in volumes in this segment. Both Flipkart and Amazon rolled out their discount sales during Diwali time frame with vendors such as Xiaomi clinching record volumes in these sales events.

This report on India smartphone channels provides detailed break up by sub-channels and vendors at a quarterly frequency. It should be a valuable tool for existing and new smartphones vendors, channel partners, mobile ecosystem players and other stakeholders who are to actively engage in the growing Indian market.
