Q4’18: India Smartphone Market Grew 10% YoY

by Rajeev Nair | Feb 04, 2019

The Indian smartphone market maintained its double digit growth in Q4 2018 too. It grew by 10% annually, per our latest quarterly study available here, from the Handset Country Share Tracker (HCST) Service.  This is the sixth quarter in a row where the India market has grown in double digits.

Xiaomi, Samsung and Vivo maintained the top three rankings in the quarter. Realme, within six months of its launch in India, was ranked among the top five vendors. Despite disruptions in the top rankings, the Indian market continued on with its consolidation spree. 2018 was also a year of many firsts and churns.

Our extensive quarterly report contains Handset and Smartphone shipments and marketshare by key vendors and operating systems in India, from Q1 2009 to Q4 2018. The report is a valuable tool for stakeholders wishing to track the India market; soon to be the world’s second largest by volume.
