Q1’18: Over A Third of Smartphone Volumes are Online in India

by Rajeev Nair | May 10, 2018

Indian Smartphone market grew 17% annually and 2% sequentially in Q1 2018. Online channels accounted for more than a third of the smartphone volumes in the quarter. Our most recent report available here from the Handset Country Share Tracker (HCST) Service  analyses the smartphone dynamics in India.

As the Indian market consolidates, most of the top vendors are altering their channel strategies. While the traditional brick and mortar retail outlets are key to penetrating further in the suburban and rural pockets, having a strong online presence is a must for sustenance in the metro and tier 1 cities.

The report maps out the smartphone channel dynamics for the overall market by vendor and by quarter. It would be a valuable tool for existing and new smartphones vendors, channel partners, mobile ecosystem players and other stakeholders who are to actively engage in the growing Indian market
