Essential Phone Looks Beyond the US market in 2018

by Rajeev Nair | May 01, 2018

Essential is on the International Expansion mode in 2018. Essential Phone was available only in the US market in 2017 (the very first year of the vendor’s operations). It has now opened up its online store to five more markets to include UK, France, Germany, Canada and Japan. Detailed market share by vendor by operator for all these markets are available from our Handset Country Share Tracker (HCST) Service.

In UK and Canada it is also taking the operator route to sell its devices. We are of the view that these premium markets would be more receptive to Phones from Essential that are expects to cost upwards of US$ 500 inclusive of the shipping and other charges.

Unlocked versions of the smartphone have also been made available via Amazon and clubbed with Alexa. Essential could expand this online channel option too to multiple markets or partner with carriers to increase its international reach.
