Xiaomi Launches Mi Mix 2 in India

by Rajeev Nair | Oct 10, 2017

Xiaomi is re-entering the premium smartphone price tier in India with the launch of Mi Mix 2. The vendor has had a high focus on the entry and mid-price tiers over the last three quarters. It was ranked the second largest vendor in the Indian smartphone market in Q2 2017, per our latest research from the Handset Country Share Tracker (HCST) Service.

Mi Mix 2 boasts a bezel less display, facial recognition feature and runs on Snapdragon 835 processor. The smartphone would be on sale in the second half of October both online as well as offline channels at a wholesale price of US$415.

Our close tracking of the Indian market confirms to the premium smartphone segment having strong competition from a discounted iPhone 8 series, Samsung Galaxy Flagships and OnePlus One. That apart Xiaomi would also find it difficult to overcome the consumer perception of it being a strong mid-tier player.
