LTE Handset in India Accounting For A Half of Total Phones in Q2 2017

India is rapidly shifting towards LTE-driven market in terms of LTE-capable handset shipments. According to the latest LTE handset volume by country report, published under Handset Country Share Tracker (HCST) service, India monitors that almost 50% of total mobile phones shipped during Q2 2017 are capable of supporting LTE technology.

From total smartphone market perspectives, LTE penetration out of total smartphones distributed in India for the quarter is rising up to over 90% level. Over the next few quarters, it is expected that all the smartphones will be able to support LTE / LTE-A in India market.

Samsung and a lot of Chinese vendors such as Xiaomi, vivo, Oppo, Lenovo-Motorola, Gionee and others are playing a crucial role in moving the LTE handset ratio to a significant level.
