by Rajeev Nair | Jun 01, 2017

South East Asian Smartphone market is steadily growing and constituted 15% of Asia Pacific shipments in Q1 2017.  Per our latest report available here, from the Handset Country Share Tracker (HCST) Service the sub-regions combined share in Q1’17 was the highest of the last four quarters.

Indonesia led this sub region with a share of 30% of the combined smartphone shipments to South East Asian markets in Q1 2017. However, Thailand and Malaysia apart, all the other countries witnessed an annual decline in smartphone shipments, mainly owing to cyclical factors. These set of countries has a strong presence of local vendors who have grown along with the Chinese vendors.
