Samsung Galaxy S8 Off to a Great Start

by Rajeev Nair | May 16, 2017

Samsung in the very first month of the sales of its new flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S8 has hit more than 5 million units. This is very much in line with Strategy Analytics predictions, in our insight report, available here, from the Handset Country Share Tracker (HCST) Service.

We expect the Galaxy S8 series to be the best selling curved smartphones in 2017. The phone having been launched in limited markets of South Korea, US, Canada, UK and France has had a very positive uptake. This momentum is likely to be boosted further as the flagship rolls out in more than 120 countries in the coming months.

Samsung has already regained the top position in the global smartphone market in the Q1 2017 quarter, per our recent report from the Wireless Smartphone (WSS) Services. The success of Galaxy S8 would further consolidate the vendor’s leadership position the year.
